Safari in Kaziranga
There are some places that make you feel like living this life is worth it, and those spots feel like another World. For me, Kaziranga National Park is that spot. From my childhood, I have always liked watching movies, shows, and documentaries related to wild animals and dreamed of watching them in real life. Kaziranga gave me a chance to make that dream come true when I planned a trip to this amazing spot in Assam. The Kaziranga National Park was one of the most beautiful wildlife parks, and I enjoyed my time there a lot.
Start of my Adventurous Trip
I planned my trip to Kaziranga for 3 days, and it started from Delhi. I made my Kaziranga Safari Online Booking in advance, along with flights, travel, and hotel arrangements according to my travel dates. I booked a flight to Guwahati as it was the nearest airport to Kaziranga. The flight took around two and a half hours. After reaching there, I stepped out of the airport and was able to feel the fresh air of this spot. Assam is truly amazing, and it offers a complete change from Delhi’s city life.
Then, I booked a cab to my resort, which was close to Kaziranga National Park. During the ride, the driver told me stories about this famous park, its animals, and others. He even told me about the culture and festivals of this spot. The road trip was amazing, and I was able to see the greenery of Assam and long stretches of tea estates. I even saw locals selling fruits and bamboo crafts on the roadside, and also the colorful houses during the ride.
After about four and a half hours, I finally reached my resort. I checked into my resort and was welcomed with a warm cup of Assamese tea, and that’s when I knew this trip was going to be amazing. I spent the whole day enjoying the recreational activities of the resort and also got the chance to enjoy the local food of Assam at the in-house restaurant. At night, I went to bed early as I was told to wake up early morning for the safari ride the next day.
The First Safari Experience
On the second day of my trip, I woke up even before sunrise. I took some time to relax and then got ready for my thrilling ride. After a quick cup of tea, I got into a gypsy safari along with my friends and went to Kaziranga National Park. The moment I saw the signboard that said “Welcome to Kaziranga National Park - World Heritage Site”, my heart filled with excitement.
The permits and IDs were checked at the entry gates, and then the guides joined us before the gypsy entered the park. My permit was for the Bagori zone, and I enjoyed it a lot there. The gypsy safari entered the park, and I felt the real Jungle experience that everyone talks about. I saw the Jungle in a way that I had only seen in nature documentaries. There were tall elephant grass, and I was able to listen to the melodious sound of birds. Our forest guide asked us to stay quiet so that we could hear the sounds of the wild.
After a few minutes of entering the deep area, the guide helped us spot something moving in the grass. My heart raced at that time and I was able to see a sight of a tiger, but soon it vanished. Then, I got an amazing chance to see the one-horned rhinoceros, which was grazing peacefully in the forest and was unbothered by our presence. I had only seen rhinos on television, and one was in front of me at that time.
Apart from rhinos and leopards, we were able to see the swamp deer and some rare bird species during the ride. I also saw a herd of wild elephants walking together, and a group of deer drinking water near a pond. The guide even told us about the footprints, and it was the tiger pugmarks! Although I didn’t see a tiger, knowing that one might be nearby added an extra thrill to the adventure.
Another Thrilling Safari
After the first ride, we went back to the hotel and then rested for a bit. We had our breakfast and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of our resort. Our second safari was in the afternoon, and it was for the Burapahar zone. We went to the park gates and permits, and IDs were checked just like they were during the morning safari in Kaziranga.
This safari happened in a different zone, and the views were completely different. This part of the park has more water bodies, and we were able to see the wild water buffalo and elephants. A baby elephant splashed water on its mother, and everyone in the gypsy laughed watching the cute moment.
This zone had amazing beauty. We stopped the gypsy near a water body and spotted a lot of birds flying and chirping around the gypsy. I spotted colorful kingfishers, storks, and egrets. The guide even told us that this park is home to 480 bird species and is one of the best places for birdwatching in India. He told us that the best time to come to this spot for birding is winter because a lot of migratory birds visit the park.
After the thrilling safari in Kaziranga, I went back to the resort, and the sun was setting at that time. When I was going back to the resort, the scenery all around looked amazing. I was able to see the dreamy sunset as the sky was filled with orange and pink shades. I sat quietly for some time and enjoyed a peaceful time. After arriving at the resort, I had dinner and enjoyed the bihu dance performance. Then relaxed in my room for the night.
Last Day at Kaziranga
On my last day, I decided to explore the local culture around Kaziranga. I woke up and had breakfast. Then I visited the nearby villages on my own and talked with the local people. They told me a lot about this spot and also about their culture and traditions. During the exploration, I saw some women weaving some clothes, and I even got a chance to do it, but trust me, weaving is harder than it looks. So, I came back to the resort half an hour before checkout time and packed my stuff. After checking out, I began my journey back home with amazing memories of this wild Kaziranga National Park.
You can also go on a short tour to Kaziranga National Park like me, and enjoy a nice trip. Come back with stories and emotions of your wild journey. If you love watching wildlife like me and want to connect with nature, then a trip to the Kaziranga would be good for you.
